Mason Ryan Hamilton Harbour

Our Grandson, Mason Ryan Hamilton Harbour was born on February 21 at 9:05 AM. His Mommy Jodelene worked very hard to help him be born and his Dad Clayton did his part too. He weighed 7lb 2oz and was 21 inches tall. He has reddish/blond hair and is the cutest little guy. We are looking forward to getting to know him.

Las Vegas, NV to Burnaby BC

We left Las Vegas and headed for Burnaby. It was a long trip and we are both exausted but arrived safely without experiencing any winter driving. We crossed to Interstate 5 and travelled most of the way up on it. Although we normally like to avoid travelling on the Interstates it turned out to be a good choice in this instance and we would definately consider it if we had to make the journey at this time of year again.

We managed to get off course in Barstow, CA and stumbled on Route 66. There are bit of the Old Route 66 scattered through out the country and every so often you find yourself driving on it.

We saw two of these big trucks loaded with oranges and windmill farms in Mojave CA and then moved on to a rest area in Woodland CA where we saw cherry trees in bloom. The next rest area that we stopped at in Corning had olive trees with some olives still on them.

Shasta Lake and Mount Shasta were really remarkable as was this dragon sculpture that we saw at Yreka. We found a pullout just after we passed it and David stopped while I ran back and took some pictures.

We saw many sheep farms in Oregon and as you can see we even saw a pet Pig at one of the rest areas. The couple were travelling in a motorhome and their pet pig was on a leash like a dog. Cute!

We were told that this pass, Grants Pass was closed the day before but it was clear roads when we went through. The teired mountain was at Roseburg, OR and I thought it was sort of neat.

After crossing the border it was great to see the mountains (even if they had snow on the tops) and we were glad to have finally made it to Burnaby. It was a good trip but a long one.

Elton John - The Red Piano

We got to see Elton John in concert at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas and it was an exceptional show. Our seats were on the main level and we could see really well and what an exceptional treat! He played and sang Rocket Man, Candle in the Wind, Daniel (my brother) and many more. His band accompanied him but he sang his last song I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues just himself and his piano and with his exceptional voice it made me wish the whole concert had been done that way.

Faye, Warren, Mikhail and Cainan Visit us in Las Vegas

We were lucky enough to have Faye, Warren, Mikhail and Cainan visit us briefly while we were in Las Vegas. It was great to just visit and catch up before setting off to see some of the sights.

Friday, Jan. 30 we went to see the Shark Reef at Mandaly Bay and also stopped to see the Luxor.

On Saturday, January 31 Faye, Mikhail and I went on the Duce and did a bit of exploring on the Strip. We went to the Venetian, Treasure Island and then went to see the Dolphins and the Secret Gardens at the Mirage. We had a great but tiring day! David, Warren and Cainan went to Red Rock Canyon.

Their visit was far too short and we hope they will visit us again soon!
